Together with Eneco, we’re going all in on solar energy.

We’re not slowing down after being awarded the title of the Most Sustainable Music Festival in the World in 2024. This year, we’re doubling down on innovation to move even closer to our end goal of running entirely on renewable energy.

Our entire production zone now runs on renewable electricity. We can access clean energy year-round thanks to a permanent green power connection installed on-site. During the build-up period, this is supplemented by 54 solar panels generating electricity for a battery system that serves as an energy buffer. This battery is programmed to prioritize solar power first, then draw from the grid only when necessary — a technique known as peak shaving to reduce strain on the local network.

A smart energy network across the whole site

A separate, high-capacity green power line has been installed for the main festival area. From day one of construction, a power ring is laid across the entire site — a circular grid that distributes energy without needing generators. This means the whole build-up and breakdown period runs on 100% green electricity from the grid and solar panels.

At the heart of this setup is our Eneco Green Energy Hub, where batteries and solar panels are connected to the power ring. The system is designed so solar energy is injected directly into the grid, and any surplus is stored in batteries for peak moments.

More solar energy than ever before

In 2025, the number of solar panels on-site will reach an all-time high thanks to our partnership with Eneco:

• 9 solar frames (54 panels) in the production zone

• 18 frames at the festival entrance

• 12 floating solar frames on the castle pond

That’s a total of 234 solar panels — with 180 panels operating during the festival period alone. All of them feed directly into the power ring, significantly reducing our reliance on generators.

The numbers tell the story

In 2024, we achieved 54.72% of our total energy use from renewable sources through the support of Eneco — even with increased power demands. The entire build-up and breakdown phase was powered entirely by green electricity from the grid and solar.

We also saw a significant reduction in our use of HVO biofuel, from approximately 12.000 liters in 2023 to just 7.000 liters in 2024, a drop of over 40%.

For 2025, we’re not placing bets on exact figures - sunshine can’t be predicted - but what’s clear is that our green infrastructure is stronger than ever. With Eneco’s support (3 years and counting) and a future-focused mindset, Paradise City continues to raise the bar for sustainability in the world of music festivals.
